Cordouan Technologies |

Cordouan Technologies is a young start-up that develops and markets a range of analyzing instruments based on innovative and patented technology transfers. First range of instruments being developed resulted from collaboration with the French Petroleum Institute (www.ifp.fr). Industrialization of new measuring instruments is dedicated to particle size and refractive index measurements for physico-chemical analysis in difficult media (dark and concentrated suspensions).
DL 135 particle size analyzer is a unique instrument for micro to nano particle size in concentrated (up to 30 %) and dark dispersions.
New development: On-line measurement with a by-passed remote measurement cell to analyze in real time particle size in a reactor or inside a pipe has been demonstrated in a prototype scale. |

Nanosight |

NanoSight develops, manufactures and supplies a unique family of instruments for the visualisation and sizing of nanoparticles. Based on laser light scattering microscopy, our Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA) technology is an exciting new capability that offers significant advantages over existing light scattering techniques for the characterisation of polydispersed populations of nano-scale particles. Independent of particle density or refractive index, NTA dynamically tracks individual particles within the range of 10 - 1,000nm, validates size distributions with a real-time view of particles, and provides a qualitative and quantitative analysis of sample concentration. |

Grimm Aerosol Technik GmbH & Co. KG |

In 1981, Hans Jürgen Grimm established a scientific instrumentation company called “GRIMM Labortechnik GmbH & Co. KG” and specialized in the field “PARTICLE MEASUREMENT”. The company has started to develop products in the health and safety related fields associated with “PARTICLE MEASUREMENT”. Therefore we have developed different aerosol monitors for ENVIRONMENTAL and OCCUPATIONAL use. Meanwhile not only these two segments have been developed into a wide range of products, but more sensitive technologies have been added such as new NANO and EMISSION technologies, and the corresponding range of applications is steadily increasing.
Today, we have the most comprehensive AEROSOL product line and our customer base is constantly growing. Due to this new orientation we decided to change our name in 1999 into GRIMM AEROSOL TECHNIK GmbH & Co. KG. At the present time the company has more than 70 employees. Our research team has steadily increased and a new center has been established, focusing mainly on NANO technologies. Here we work on different projects in cooperation with scientists from all over Europe in order to create state-of-the-art instruments. |

CILAS |

CILAS invented the laser particle sizer 40 years ago.
Nanotechnology is often described as having a disruptive or revolutionary potential in terms of its possible impact on industrial production routes. Nanotechnology offers possible solutions to many current problems in the field of environment, health, processes, waste and emission.
Security is the prerequisite for societal acceptance which is the main condition for ongoing developments in this area.
Indeed, toxicity of human made nanostructured materials is relatively uncertain and therefore, the precautionary principle should apply, which means no human contact with nanoparticles.
CILAS uses his experience to develop innovative technologies that will detect leaks of nanoparticles in the environment of workers who develop and produce these materials in laboratories or factories.
This detection which is targeted will help to achieve a great reliability of surveillance and therefore avoid false alarms. CILAS' detector is a key equipment to provide, to public and investor, confidence in nanotechnology which will be crucial for its long-term development. |

TSI |

Nanotechnology has emerged and been hailed as the next industrial revolution. However, the occupational health risks of using or manufacturing nanoparticles are not clearly understood. Subsequently, workers may be exposed to engineered nanoparticles through means of inhalation at levels that can greatly exceed ambient concentrations. TSI makes a variety of instruments for toxicologists and industrial hygienists to measure the total number concentration, surface area and size distribution of nanoparticles. |
